Shawn Levy's Frankenstein project aims to be the first Frankenstein project before all those other Frankenstein projects

Suggesting that Will Smith was too busy spitting hot, cozy fire or shooting down divorce rumors to think about starring in Fantastic Voyage, director Shawn Levy is reportedly edging away from that remake toward doing another instead: Fox’s Frankenstein. According to Deadline, the studio is hoping to make its Frankenstein—the one scripted by Max Landis (son of John)— the first Frankenstein before all other Frankensteins, of which there are currently about eight. Or nine, if you count the proposed Frankenstein TV series, 10 if you count The Munsters reboot, and 11 if you make allowance for the margin of error of plus-or-minus one Frankenstein project, given the impossibility of predicting what new Frankensteins might be announced within the hour. For example, our proposed slapstick comedy Too Many Frankensteins!, in which an ordinary family's house is turned upside down after it adopts a rambunctious litter of Frankensteins. Anyway, Levy, of course, is an inspired choice to direct one of the many contemporary updates of Frankenstein, seeing as he has access to cameras—which is, judging by the sheer number of them, the first and most important factor in making a new Frankenstein.
