She & Him to release another album of cooing, crooning

She & Him will release Classics, a new album of standards, this fall. Classics is the band’s first record on Columbia, with all the group’s previous work having been released via Merge. According to a press release, Classics was recorded live with occasional accompaniment from a 20-piece orchestra, arranged in part by M. Ward. Zooey Deschanel—the “She”—was typically upbeat when she noted that it was the group’s dream “to record these songs in a way that highlighted the brilliance of the songwriting an the beauty of their melodies,” and that she hopes “people have a wonderful time listening to it.”
