Sherlock Holmes 3 puts a team of writers on the case of its script

Despite the fact that there are plenty of other ways to get your Sherlock Holmes fix these days, Robert Downey Jr. is determined to keep his take on the detective in the mix. Variety reports that Team Downey, Warner Bros., and Village Roadshow have assembled a writers’ room for Sherlock Holmes 3. It’s something of a murderer’s row of people that have worked on big blockbusters, some of which have yet to come out: There’s Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman, Baywatch’s Justin Malen, Rogue One’s Gary Whitta, Tomb Raider’s Geneva Dworet-Robertson, and Snowden’s Kieran Fitzgerald. With all those names someone should be able to come up with a worthy mystery. Variety acknowledges that a writers’ room for a single movie is a “rare” thing, but explains the idea is to avoid frequent rewrites.

In addition to Downey, the franchise stars Jude Law as Watson, and Guy Ritchie has directed both previous installments. All of these men are rather busy. Downey has Tony Stark business, Law’s playing the pope, and Ritchie is doing Aladdin for Disney.
