According to Variety, Warner Brothers is so bullish on their Christmas Day release Sherlock Holmes that the studio is asking screenwriters Kieran and Michele Mulroney to get started on penning a sequel, in advance of re-signing director Guy RItchie and stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams. And according to rumor, Brad Pitt is in talks to play a major role in the second movie, as Holmes' arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty. Interesting news, given the mixed fan reaction to the Holmes trailer, which makes the movie look… well, non-canonical.
