Shh! Paramount wants a Quiet Place sequel

Reminding us that there’s no thoughtful, intimate concept for a genre movie that won’t be met with raucous, desperate cries for “More!”—provided that there’s still money somewhere on the table, at least—Paramount has already announced that it’s begun development on a sequel to John Krasinski’s surprise hit horror film A Quiet Place. This is per The Hollywood Reporter, which notes that studio head Jim Gianopulos trotted out the news at CinemaCon this week.

“If you told me five years ago that an almost silent film starring the very funny guy Jim from The Office would have been a hit at Paramount, I would have said, ‘Well, I should go work at Paramount,’”Gianopulos joked with the Las Vegas crowd. Meanwhile, it’s not clear, exactly, what role very funny guy Jim will play in the sequel; A Quiet Place was Krasinski’s directorial debut, but his schedule has already begun to fill up with other projects (not to mention his work on Amazon’s Jack Ryan show).

Anyway, please consider this your reserved space for workshopping jokes about what this alleged sequel to A Quiet Place should be called. We’ve already got A Quieter Place, A Loud Place, and A Place With A Perfectly Normal Volume—that one’s a prequel—firmly planted on our list.
