Shia LaBeouf and Jesse Eisenberg to play pothead arms dealers

Finding common ground after being accused of plagiarizing, respectively, Michael Cera and everything, Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LaBeouf are in talks to join forces on Arms & The Dudes. The project, in the works for years now, recently gained traction after director Todd Phillips made it a priority for his new partnership with Bradley Cooper, right after a round of vigorous bro-hugs. It’s based on a Rolling Stone article about two Miami stoners who get in way over their heads when they become arms dealers for the U.S. government, getting drawn into an international incident. Eisenberg and LaBeouf would star as those two stoners—fitting, seeing as this true story nevertheless shares a lot of elements with recent movies like Savages and Pineapple Express. Still, as LaBeouf has taught us, life has no copyright.

Unfortunately for the Arms & The Dudes theme song, both Hoyt Axton and Jerry Reed are dead.
