Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy to make some moonshine in Nick Cave and John Hillcoat's Wettest County In The World
When Nick Cave isn’t busy writing murder ballads with the Bad Seeds or some of the best dick songs of the year with Grinderman, he’s also a very in-demand screenwriter, and next year may finally see forward motion on one of his most anticipated projects, The Wettest County In The World. Cave adapted the screenplay from Matt Bondurant’s novel a while back for his longtime collaborator, director John Hillcoat (The Proposition, The Road), but the film stalled out for lack of financing around this time last year. Now it looks as though the Prohibition-era thriller is moving toward a spring start date with Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy starring as part of a family of 1920s bootleggers in a story that includes scrappin’ and squabblin’ and cuttin’ off a guy’s testicles and droppin’ them in a jar of moonshine. Which is a story that would also make for a good Nick Cave song, come to think of it.
