Shia LaBeouf to star in Andrea Arnold’s American Honey

As reported by Variety, former famous person Shia LaBeouf is set to star in American Honey, the first U.S. production from British director Andrea Arnold. The film will be titled American Honey, and it’s reportedly a “coming-of-age drama” about a teenager who runs away from home and starts selling magazine subscriptions. Eventually, the teenager “gets caught up in a whirlwind of hard-partying, law-bending, and young love,” just like every other teenager who runs away to sell magazines. It’s not clear who LaBeouf would play in this scenario, since those three Transformers movies have probably made him too world-weary to play a teenager these days, but he’s probably down for a whirlwind of hart-partying, law-bending, and young love.

To be fair, it feels like it’s been a while since LaBeouf did something stupid, and this project is the usual sort of artsy thing he goes for these days, so maybe we should cut him some slack with these jokes. On the other hand, making jokes about Shia LaBeouf is pretty fun. Suddenly, running away from all of this and selling magazines doesn’t sound too bad.
