Shield creator talks post-finale
Because those of us who religiously watch The Shield can't stop talking about this week's incredible two-hour finale, I figured at least some of you would be here on Thanksgiving to see if there was any new news about the show. (It's over, get over it!)
No, I'm kidding. Because Noel Murray's interview with series creator Shawn Ryan took place before Noel had seen the final episode, some questions were left unanswered. (SPOILERS COMING.) Those questions: What does Shawn Ryan think happened to Vic? Would he consider revisiting these characters?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly's always-entertaining Michael Ausiello, Ryan says "I'm not sure" and "yes," respectively—exciting news. You can read the whole thing by clicking the link, but in case you don't feel like moving that muscle, Ryan offers some possibilities for where Vic is headed ("Is he going to search for his kids? Is he going to pursue his own sort of police work on his own time? Is he going to do something postal? I don't know."). And when asked about the possibility of a Shield movie, Ryan basically says yes: "Hollywood is obviously a place that revisits ideas or shows, and maybe that will happen with The Shield. Maybe not. But I'd only do it under circumstances in which the quality could remain the same."
It'd be incredibly tough to top those past two episodes, but I'd be first in line for a movie that covers Vic's first days of "freedom," Ronnie's sure-to-be-messy trial (should he actually end up in court), and even the trial of the serial-killing teen. But please, no deathbed scenes for Claudette—that would be too much to take.
