Shoegaze pioneers Ride are making a new album

According to Pitchfork, pioneering shoegaze band Ride is recording a new album with producer Erol Alkan—an Instagram post (below) from Alkan is the source of the news. The British band broke up acrimoniously in 1996, two albums after shedding the swirling sound and scene they helped create. The band reunited last year for European and American tours, and almost completely ignored any music they made after 1992’s classic Going Blank Again. (This was a good idea.) That set list bodes well for a return to the band’s earlier, swirlier sound, and not to the psych-classic rock jumble that they fell into later.
