Short Circuit remake gets a writer and director (the news is mixed)
Proof that Hollywood will not be satisfied until all good memories of growing up the '80s are destroyed: Dimension Films has attached a writer and director to the previously announced remake of the 1986 robots-are-our-friends classic Short Circuit. It will be written by Robot Chicken scribe Dan Milano and directed by Steve Carr (Paul Blart: Mall Cop). Fingers crossed for a Steve Guttenberg cameo to create the strangest triumvirate in movie history. According to Wikipedia, the plot "will involve a boy from a broken family befriending the Number 5 robot." Seriously guys, no disassemble.
