Shout! Factory wants to make Valentine’s Day even more frightening
You don’t have to go to Texas for a chainsaw massacre, and now you don’t have to wait for Halloween for a horror movie marathon. On Valentine’s Day, Shout! Factory TV will be running their “Love Is In The Scare” marathon all day and night for the young lovers of the world.
When you and your date return home from White Castle, you two lovebirds can settle in for 12 hours of exploitation trash, curated from the Shout! Factory archives. Premiering for the first time on the streaming service will be such VHS-era classics as Beyond Darkness, Metamorphosis—which had one of the coolest boxes in the horror section—Class Of 1984, and last year’s giallo homage The Editor. (Unfortunately, Harry Warden is nowhere to be seen.) The films are going to be streamed in the style of an “’80s premium cable channel marathon,” featuring vintage promos and bumpers in order to re-create how you probably spent Valentine’s Day in 1988—home alone watching Witchery on HBO.
The 12-hour marathon begins at 12:00 PM PT, and will be streaming free on loveisinthescare.com. (That’s cheaper than a bottle of Boone’s Farm and a box of Russell Stover chocolates.) An exclusive trailer for the marathon is below.
