Showtime has already renewed Episodes for a fourth season

The third season of Episodes hasn’t even premiered yet, to answer the question of how much longer the series can keep its fictional UK sitcom writers and Matt LeBlanc in each other’s orbit—ostensibly while working on a failed U.S. remake of a show that no one involved wants much to do with. Still, stretching a premise thin isn’t really a concern for the network that let Californication run for seven years, of course, so Showtime has already eagerly put in a fourth-season order for more Episodes, which it co-produces with the BBC. That vote of confidence suggests this season will justify those sad-sack British writers sticking around L.A., at least—though really, all Episodes has to do is continue to find new ways for Matt LeBlanc to be humiliated. They haven’t brought the chimpanzee from Ed on yet, so there’s always that.
