Showtime has announced that it has picked up new seasons of both The Big C and—really? Weeds. Yes, Weeds will continue to see how much further it can go coasting on the fumes of Mary-Louise Parker’s charms, possibly by relocating the entire Botwin family to the surface of the moon, where Nancy will run afoul of a local moon-gang and have degrading sex with its leader. Meanwhile, The Big C had one of the network’s highest-rated premieres in the last eight years, which means the Laura Linney-starring sitcom was a lock for a second season. We suppose that also means she won’t tell anyone she has cancer for at least a couple more years, leading to lots more comical misunderstandings where she acts all crazy and selfish and her poor family doesn’t understand what’s going on with her.
