Showtime to make even more Billions
If recent events—like say, being shamed about spending money on such luxury items as food and personal hygiene products—have left you more primed than ever to watch the rich eat each other, we have some good news for you. Showtime has renewed Billions for a fifth season of plutocrats generally being assholes to each other.
The cabler announced the pick-up earlier today in a press release, with co-presidents of entertainment Gary Levine and Jana Winograde touting their powerhouse drama. “Billions addictive examination of wealth and power is supremely entertaining, smart and surprising,” said Levine. “We’re loving season four and can’t wait to buckle up for the wild ride that Brian and David and their brilliant cast have in store for us in season five.” And sure, Billions is incisive and downright thrilling at times, and features a stellar cast including Paul Giamatti, Maggie Siff, Damian Lewis, and Asia Kate Dillon, but mostly, a new season of the show will afford us all with enough unflattering depictions of supposed captains of industry to make us feel a little bit better about choosing between life insurance and a transit pass.
