Sigur Rós announces “intimate” North American tour

Sigur Rós will be on the European festival circuit this summer, and the band’s just announced it will follow up those massive spectacles with more intimate gatherings across North America. The month-long tour, which runs from September 19 to October 14, will cater to the dedicated Sigur Rós fan more heavily than any previous tour, as the band will play two sets at each tour date in lieu of having a supporting act. The Icelandic rockers already made a video announcement for the tour:

To accommodate the tour’s smaller venues, Sigur Rós will ditch the string and brass sections at the shows, where the band will also test out new material. Tickets go on sale this Friday, but a presale password is up for the picking at the band’s website. There will be a limited number of exclusive packages for sale, offering “the best seats in the house and autographed memorabilia.” The Hollywood Bowl show in Los Angeles is the only stop that will feature a supporting act, and tickets are already on sale. A complete list of tour dates is below.
