Sinead O’Connor regrets saying that Arsenio Hall gave Prince drugs
Sinead O’Connor and Arsenio Hall have buried the proverbial hatchet on their Prince-based feuding, with O’Connor publicly apologizing for implying that Hall gave the legendary musician the drugs that ended his life. O’Connor originally made her accusations last year, just a few weeks after Prince died of what was ultimately determined to be an overdose of the pain medication fentanyl. Hall promptly responded with a $5 million defamation lawsuit, which has now been dropped in the wake of the pair’s reconciliation.
The two announced their news via a joint statement, fittingly, to TMZ, saying, “Sinead has retracted and apologized for statements she made about Arsenio last year, which prompted his defamation lawsuit against her.” O’Connor followed up by saying “I apologize for my Facebook posts about Arsenio to the extent that anyone thought I was accusing him of acting as Prince’s drug dealer and supplying him with illegal hard drugs, or insinuating that Arsenio had something to do with Prince’s death. I sincerely apologize because those statements would be false, and I retract them unequivocally.” The posts containing the accusations, which included efforts to point the DEA in Hall’s direction, have since been deleted from her Facebook page.
