Skyler Samuels to play non-freak on American Horror Story: Freak Show

Following the classical Marilyn Munster archetype of the boring normal-looking person who is surrounded by more interesting people who are unique in some way, Nine Lives of Chloe King star Skyler Samuels has joined FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show as a regular person who “finds herself in a tough situation.” That sparkling character description comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which says any other details about Samuels’ character or the season’s storyline are being “kept under wraps.” THR does say she’s a “local” of the town that Jessica Lange’s freak show comes to, though, so it stands to reason that she’ll be the token normal among the show’s more colorful characters—which includes Sarah Paulson as conjoined twins, Kathy Bates as a bearded lady, and Michael Chiklis as a mustached man. Of course, this is American Horror Story we’re talking about, so while Samuels might seem like a normal person, she probably has an alien baby growing in her brain, or she’s actually a ghost from the future, or she’s secretly some kind of a steampunk android. Hell, maybe she’s all three. We’ll find out what crazy bullshit Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are up to when Freak Show premieres on October 8.
