Sly Stone awarded $5 million in unpaid royalties

Sly Stone, the onetime musical superstar whose life has turned away from the funky and into the depressing in recent years, has reportedly been awarded $5 million in damages for unpaid royalties by a Los Angeles judge. Stone first brought legal action against his former manager Gerald Goldstein, his former lawyer Glenn Stone, and their company Even St. Productions in 2010, claiming that they cheated him out of royalty payments for over a decade. According to Stone, Goldstein and Stone failed to pay him any royalties between the years of 1989 and 2000, and used his money to fund lavish lifestyles for themselves instead. In the meantime, Stone became addicted to drugs, eventually lost his house, and was living out of a vanby choice, he claimed—by 2011. $5 million is certainly enough to buy Stone a new place to live, but it is also more than enough to buy a life-ruining amount of cocaine, something Stone has already done once. Please choose wisely this time, Sly.
