SNL’s portrayal of Steve Bannon has Trump “especially upset”

This weekend, Saturday Night Live is airing a rerun. Also this weekend, Donald Trump is leaving the White House behind to go golfing and maybe spill some national security secrets at his Mar-A-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. Coincidence? Probably not. We all know that Trump is a regular SNL viewer, and that he was not fond of Melissa McCarthy’s impression of his press secretary Sean Spicer, particularly that ol’ Spicey was being taken down a peg by a woman. The horror!

Well, apparently that isn’t the only recent SNL sketch to get under Trump’s skin. According to the most recent drops in the bucket of leaks coming from Trump’s White House as chronicled in today’s Washington Post, he’s also “especially upset” about the show’s portrayal of Steve “Sith Lord” Bannon during the show’s cold open on February 5:

It’s not the depiction of Bannon as the Grim Reaper that bothers Trump—the voice is undeniably male, after all— but the fact that the sketch ends with Trump addressing Bannon as “Mr. President” before giving up the big desk to go play with his toys. It’s the same sore spot that caused Trump to Tweet out, “I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data, and everyone knows it” on February 6. Suuuuure, buddy. And you put the Scotch tape on your tie all by yourself, too.

Postcards addressed to President Bannon can be sent to: The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC, 20500.
