Snoop Dogg to induct Tupac Shakur into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Getting into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is a big honor all on its own, but one of the unsung benefits of being included is that you get to show off your famous friends at the annual induction ceremony. We previously reported that Pearl Jam will be inducted by the band’s communal best buddy Neil Young, and now Rolling Stone is reporting that the late Tupac Shakur will be inducted by old friend and collaborator Snoop Dogg. The final lineup for Shakur’s tribute hasn’t been nailed down yet, but it sounds like Dr. Dre might show up as well. Also, rumors say that whoever is there might perform “California Love,” which actually seems like a pretty safe assumption.
The Rolling Stone piece notes that Snoop Dogg and Shakur collaborated on “2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted” and that Snoop is credited with bringing Shakur to Death Row Records in the first place, so he seems like an appropriate choice to lead the iconic rapper’s induction. Other members of the Hall Of Fame’s 2017 class include Journey, Yes, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Nile Rodgers, and the aforementioned Pearl Jam. The ceremony itself will be held on April 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
