Soderbergh, Pollard, Zeta-Jones, and Jackman team for Cleopatra musical

File under too-strange-not-to-be-real: Variety has an article on a new project entitled Cleo, which it describes as "a 3-D live-action rock 'n' roll musical about Cleopatra" to be directed by Steven Soderbergh. But wait: It gets stranger. The film will star Hugh Jackman and Catherine Zeta-ones and feature music by, per Variety "Guided By Voices." (Presumably that means Robert Pollard, with whom Soderbergh collaborated on Bubble.) The script comes from ex-GBV member and ex-Spin journalist Jim Greer.

Call us curious.
