Sofia Boutella is in talks for HBO’s Fahrenheit 451

The Mummy star Sofia Boutella continues to take on highly flammable (or possibly inflammable) roles, with Variety reporting that the actress is in talks to co-star in HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. Boutella joins a cast that includes Michael B. Jordan as slowly awakening “fireman” Guy Montag, and Michael Shannon as his sinister mentor. (A.k.a., “The Michael Shannon part.”)

Boutella would play Clarisse, the young woman who initially spurs Montag to rebellion. The character was a teenager in Bradbury’s original novel, but most adaptations—including François Truffaut’s 1966 film, which cast Julie Christie in the part—age her up and expand her role. Boutella first caught widespread attention with her turn as knife-footed henchwoman Gazelle in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman, and stars as the titular villain in Universal’s upcoming creature feature, which opens this weekend.
