But for the Pennsylvania whorehouse that served as Dick Whitman’s childhood home after his father’s death, the show used a Victorian home a little bit south of Dodger Stadium in Angelino Heights. TV Guide writer Michael Schneider broke down the property on his blog Franklin Avenue, discovering it was built in 1887 and valued at just under $600,000—though it’s not currently on the market. And the surrounding neighborhood reveals that Mad Men used quite a bit of CGI to turn the house into the ramshackle monument of Don Draper’s past.
