It’s hard to find a perfect viral video, one that is short, funny, rewatchable, universal in its sentiment, and redolent of that tiniest bit of mystery that makes any viral video so massively alluring. But this may be the one:
Since being posted on Sunday, the video has gone everywhere on Twitter and Reddit, thanks in part to the sheer quantity of narrative packed into its four-second runtime. Sure, a toddler running around with a knife isn’t funny, but what if that youngster is so aglow with joy about this fact that he makes the phrase “a knife!” sound like a universal expression of elation? What if you can see a beer pong ball soar into a cup in the foreground when the video begins? What if it all ends with a reassuring exclamation of “NO!” and someone running off-camera, presumably to seize the knife from the extremely happy child? One hesitates to declare any video truly perfect, but this comes very close.
