Someone's getting a job out of this modern-day Game Of Thrones remake

We still have a whole lot of Game Of Thrones left. Its final season may not even premiere until 2019, after which one of the four spin-off series HBO is developing will probably continue to slake our thirst for dragons and shit for many more years to come. (Also, someday George R. R. Martin may write some more books, maybe.)

And yet it’s hard not to root for this unsanctioned but extremely good modern-day take on Game Of Thrones. Dubbed Westeros, it envisions the story many centuries in the future, with some sleekly sexualized White Walkers and the generational conflict between families now meted out via political parties. There are also some cars exploding and a nice shot of the Iron Throne encased in glass, all with pretty lustrous production values. As of now, it’s the only video on its channel, and there aren’t any details yet about who’s behind it. It’s either a demo reel for some extremely ambitious director or effects company or a shoot-the-moon pitch for a spin-off series, but no matter what, someone’s getting a job out of this thing. Hey, maybe David Benioff and D.B. Weiss like it enough to pull a Battlestar Galactica with the last couple episodes.
