Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo will tour this spring with Disappears, M. Ward

As internal struggles cloud the uncertain future of Sonic Youth, guitarist Lee Ranaldo has decided to pursue brighter prospects on his own: Ranaldo will embark on a solo tour this spring, where he'll be joined by other, less estranged-from-one-another friends. He'll play two shows in New York this April with Disappears, who have added Ranaldo’s Sonic Youth bandmate Steve Shelley to their lineup on drums and recently released the first single, “Replicate,” from their upcoming album Pre-Language. Then Ranaldo will join M. Ward on tour in May.

Ranaldo's new solo album, In Between The Times And The Tides, is due out on March 20. [via Consequence of Sound]
