Sorry, Slud-Jak: Black Manta is probably the bad guy in Aquaman

Skipping right past Weisbogg and Rhombus, Slud-Jak or Qwsp—not to mention Merdo the Wizard, Mr. Neptune, Mongo, the Malignant Amoeba, or Iceberg Head—The Wrap is reporting on the villain that Jason Momoa will be fighting in the upcoming Aquaman film. (Spoiler alert: it’s not Lemur, Karla, or The Human Flying Fish.)

No, we won’t get to see Momoa’s King Of The Seas battle against Wackyman, The Fisherman, or Gustave The Great. Instead, he’ll be fighting Black Manta, just like we always figured he would. (With apologies to Master Sargasso and The Eel.) Manta, a wetsuit-wearing wannabe conqueror who’s been carrying out his vendetta against Aquaman for nearly 50 years, is easily the most prominent member of the hero’s fishy rogues gallery—alongside Aquaman’s evil half-brother Orm, the Ocean Master—so it makes perfect sense that he’d be the centerpiece of the new film. (For what it’s worth, though, Warner Bros. hasn’t confirmed the news, so Piscator, Queequeg, and Seaquake might still have an outside shot.
