Spider-Man attractions are coming to Disneyland

We don’t normally associate Spider-Man with the state of California, but apparently he’ll soon be taking time off from keeping New York City safe so he can hang out with tourists at Disneyland. That’s according to /Film, which is reporting that Disneyland has announced plans to launch a new Marvel Superhero HQ section of the park, with one of the key attractions being a “Spider-Man Meet-And-Greet.” We don’t know exactly what that will entail, but apparently it will be a “heroic new character greeting location” where Spidey fans can “snap a photo, grab an autograph, or just thank him for keeping us safe from the likes of Doctor Octopus and the Green Goblin.” Disney has also released a photo of what this Spider-Man will look like (by which we mean he’s the real Spider-Man, not just some guy in a suit), though it’s not especially different from how he normally looks. You can see it below.

/Film notes that this probably doesn’t have anything to do with the webslinger being welcomed into the warm embrace of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Marvel has apparently always retained Spider-Man’s theme park rights “west of the Mississippi.” There’s still a Spider-Man ride at Universal Studios Orlando, though, so he probably won’t be visiting Disney World any time soon.
