Spider-Man: Homecoming officially webs up its first villain

Though it’s still unconfirmed whether or not Michael Keaton will be playing the villainous Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, at least we now know one bad guy who will definitely be in the film—even if he’s not one of the bigger names in Spidey’s rogues gallery. According to Deadline, Captain Phillips and Orange Is The New Black’s Michael Chernus has joined the film’s cast as Phineas Mason, better known as the Tinkerer. In the comics, the Tinkerer is generally depicted as an old man who makes equipment for other supervillains, so he’ll probably fill a similar role in Homecoming. Assuming Keaton is playing the Vulture, then, he might be getting his wings from this guy—or maybe Stilt-Man will be in the movie and he’ll get his stilts from this guy, we don’t know.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will star Tom Holland as nerdy high school kid Peter Parker, alongside Robert Downey Jr., Marissa Tomei, and Zendaya. It’s being directed by Cop Car’s Jon Watts.
