Spike Lee and Jordan Peele bring the true tale of the BlacKkKlansman to life in new trailer
The first trailer for Spike Lee and Jordan Peele’s BlacKkKlansman, the Dave Chappelle sketch that turned out to be a true story that’s now a major feature film, has arrived. Denzel’s son John David Washington stars as Ron Stallworth, a black cop who was able to infiltrate the Klu Klux Klan in 1970s Colorado with the help of his colleague Flip (Adam Driver), a Jewish cop who stood in for Ron whenever someone needed to go meet with the hooded bigots face-to-face. Ron, who did most of his business with the Klan by phone, was actually promoted to the rank of local KKK chapter leader, all while also going undercover with the Black Panthers.
BlacKkKlansman, co-starring Topher Grace as Klan leader David Duke (!), is screening in competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and opens in regular ol’ American theaters on August 10.
