Variety is reporting that E! Entertainment is making The Soup a franchise: In the publication’s inimitable, maddening biz-speak, it says the show will air on “sibling cabler” Versus network and is on the “sked” for Oct. 14. (They didn’t use “sked” in this piece, actually, but it’s another Variety favorite.)
Sports Soup will be hosted by comedian Matt Iseman, who currently hosts Clean House on the decidedly less dude-friendly Style Network. Viewers can expect the same format as The Soup, with clips from “pregame and postgame shows, press conferences, local stations and other sources,” according to Variety.
There’s no word yet on who will fill the role of Lou the Dog for Sports Soup.
