Have you ever wished you were one of the Peacekeepers in The Hunger Games? A member of the Thought Police in 1984? Perhaps you’ll settle for playing a Pink Guard from Squid Game. Netflix is seeking someone to fulfill this role for Squid Game: The Experience in New York City, going so far as to post a listing on LinkedIn. It’s being framed as less of an actual job than a prize in itself, with the promise of a trip to NYC and an invitation to the third season premiere of Squid Game. And if the idea of being a Pink Guard puts you off, you can choose to go by the moniker “Netflix’s Squid Game Expert,” which the streamer promises is “a title only one will ever hold.”
To be chosen for this lofty position, hopefuls must first follow Netflix on LinkedIn and then take the Squid Game Expert Quiz on Tudum between now and June 9. Anyone with a 90% or higher score will be entered into the sweepstakes. If chosen, you’ll be flown out to NYC to serve as a Pink Guard at Squid Game: The Experience on June 16. Description of job duties include: “Full Immersion: Wear the Pink Guard uniform with unwavering commitment. The mask stays on — your identity is your secret”; “Guidance and Control: Navigate the chaos, directing guests and maintaining order”; “Enforcement of Rules: Ensure every player adheres to the rules. O — move forward. X — game over”; and “Presentation of the Grand Prize: Participate in the Squid Game Experience award ceremony.”
“As the Pink Guard, you’ll be the enforcer, the silent observer, the adjudicator of fate,” the LinkedIn post waxes poetically. “You’ll present the ultimate prize to the Grand Champion, sealing their victory with the gravitas only a Pink Guard can convey.” After one day’s work in the non-deadly version of Netflix’s dystopian capitalism commentary, you and plus one will get to go to the New York premiere, which is pretty cool. The position also grants you “The potential for your name to be whispered across Netflix’ social platforms,” which is almost as good. Best of luck!
