Squirtgun: Another Sunny Afternoon
Mass Giorgini has recorded Screeching Weasel, The Queers, and virtually every other pop-punk band under the sun at his Sonic Iguana studio in Indiana. With his great track record, one would expect nothing less than brilliance from his own band Squirtgun. Unfortunately, the group's second album, Another Sunny Afternoon, doesn't deliver. There are a few great songs, most notably "Mary Ann," an encomium to the other girl on Gilligan's Island, and the finger-waving, grin-inducing "Come On Let's Go." The other songs, though, are mostly forgettable. If you have no expectations, Another Sunny Afternoon is a pleasant surprise. If you want the moon, move along to the next mass-produced album.
