St. Vincent’s Annie Clark debuts new music while dressed as a toilet

Magnificent rock goddess Annie Clark of St. Vincent performed a new song at a benefit last night while dressed as a toilet. Whether it was an homage to Marcel Duchamp or just a quirky clothing choice is unclear, but it was still endearing. And according to the Instagram user that documented the latrine-inspired sartorial moment, Clark addressed the ballad to her girlfriend, the model-actress Cara Delevingne, who’s also made some interesting style choices.

If you’re interested in analyzing what the lyrics—including the line, “you’re the only motherfucker in the city who can stand me”—mean for their relationship, don’t worry, a forum is already on it. Clark’s set also included a rendition of “Bring Me Your Loves” and some costumed dancers.

As Pitchfork reports, the show at Le Poisson Rouge in New York was to benefit drummer Matt Johnson’s son Jasper, who suffered from a seizure earlier this year. Clark shared the bill with Rufus Wainwright and Father John Misty, among others.
