St. Vincent’s Annie Clark made a confusing cover of the Golden Girls theme

Imagine you’re St. Vincent’s Annie Clark, a beautiful and talented weirdo of the highest order, and you’re watching The Golden Girls on a lazy day. As you’re chuckling at Dorothy’s excellent burns, you decide to cover the show’s theme song. But what comes out sounds nothing like the cheerful ode to friendship. Instead, The Golden Girls makes you think about the inevitable passage of time. So you shed a tear for Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty. Then you post the “dirge” to Twitter.

Okay, so perhaps that’s not exactly how this instrumental track came to be. Still, Clark has given us a truly bizarre take on the classic. We can only hope that she’ll tackle the All In The Family ditty next.
