St. Vincent to fill in for Fred Armisen on Late Night With Seth Meyers

Earlier this year, St. Vincent’s Annie Clark proved her ability to be a pretty good substitute bandleader by filling in for Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction. Now Clark will be stepping up for the slightly less intimidating job of taking over for Fred Armisen, serving as the leader of the 8G band on Late Night With Seth Meyers next week. The 8G band is no stranger to collaborators—Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis and the Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs have both joined in on separate occasions—but, when Clark sits in on August 11 and 12, it will be the first time the ensemble has been lead by someone other than Armisen. Perhaps Clark’s spot on Late Night is all part of her plan to confound television audiences one late-night NBC show at a time.
