Stan Lee, Joss Whedon, Harry Knowles, and Morgan Spurlock making Comic-Con documentary
Teaming up behind a project that’s just a Kevin Smith cameo and Rush soundtrack away from being the geekiest thing ever recorded, Stan Lee, Joss Whedon, Ain’t Cool News lead typer Harry Knowles, and Morgan Spurlock will produce a feature documentary on Comic-Con, San Diego’s annual orgy of promotion and merchandising that also includes the occasional purchase and discussion of an actual comic book. According to Deadline, Comic-Con Episode Four: A Fan’s Hope will find Spurlock following seven Comic-Con attendees from around the world, with shooting beginning this June and finishing up at July’s convention. It’s the second look at intense fandom from Spurlock, who’s fresh off humiliating our own Steve Hyden in his Simpsons special, and the first documentary of this scale to be made about Comic-Con—although in the words of the press release, it’s really about how “in costume or not… we should all have the courage and confidence to be ourselves.” (Except for you.)
