Star Trek’s Bruce Greenwood signs on to Dan Rather scandal movie

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bruce Greenwood will play CBS News president Andrew Heyward in Truth, the movie about newsman Dan Rather’s reputation getting trashed after he reported on George W. Bush getting special treatment during the Vietnam War so he could avoid actually seeing any combat. Rather got his information from some documents that were later believed to be forgeries, and his producer Mary Mapes was then fired for backing him up. As previously reported, Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett will play Rather and Mapes, and as referenced earlier in this article, Greenwood will play the guy who fired Mapes.

Greenwood is probably best-recognized from the rebooted Star Trek movies, where he played Captain Christopher Pike—the guy who always gets on Captain Kirk’s case when he does something dangerous-yet-charming, like that time he presented a news report about the President Of Space getting preferential treatment to avoid combat during the Federation-Cardassian War. Greenwood will be joined in Truth by Dennis Quaid, Elizabeth Moss, John Benjamin Hickey, and Topher Grace. We’re crossing our fingers that Topher Grace is playing George W. Bush, since he could basically do the same thing he did as Venom in Spider-Man 3.
