Star Wars’ throne room scene is very different without its iconic score

Star Wars: A New Hope’s wordless final scene relies on John Williams’ sweeping score to carry the triumphant moment. The Death Star is vanquished, the heroes have won, and everyone celebrates. Hooray! Take that score away, though, and that celebration becomes the story of two dudes and their terrifying enforcer/pet getting awards from a lady they can’t stop eye-fucking in front of an audience of thousands.

Video creators Auralnauts also added their own foley and vocal effects to compensate for the excised audio track, including a unique interpretation of Chewbacca’s howl. Aside from being one of the video’s best moments, that bit suggests an answer to a long-standing fan question: Why didn’t Chewie get a Medal Of Bravery for his efforts in destroying the Death Star? Because he’s a goddamned monster, that’s why.
