Starz orders a ballet drama from Breaking Bad writer

Fresh off the network-best debut for its Treasure Island prequel series Black Sails over the weekend, Starz has ordered a series created by Breaking Bad writer Moira Walley-Beckett (credited with both “Gliding Over All,” and “Ozymandias” from the final season). First reported last year, Flesh And Bone “revolves around a dancer with a troubled past who joins a prestigious dance company in New York.” The fate of the series was contingent on finding a suitable actress for the lead, and Sarah Hay, who appeared as an ensemble dancer in Black Swan, fit that bill. The cast also features other professional dancers from the American Battle Theater in what is shaping up to be the series version of Center Stage and Black Swan, and may have its own dance-off with The CW's ballet drama set in the 1880s. Flesh And Bone will debut in early 2015.
