Starz orders Ed Helms/Alejandro González Iñárritu project to series
Starz has placed a series order for One Percent—which, sadly, is not a buddy comedy featuring star Ed Helms and director Alejandro González Iñárritu as decadent members of America’s financial elite. Instead, it’s a family drama that can be described, if flippantly, as a serious version of Arrested Development, with Helms as the beleaguered son struggling to maintain the family business—in this case an organic farm—amid secrets and scandal. Hilary Swank is in talks to play Helms’ wife and Ed Harris the family patriarch, although Harris may now be too busy playing a potentially robotic bad guy in Westworld for anything but a guest starring role. One Percent has been ordered for 10 episodes without having to endure the indignity of a pilot, but that’s not terribly surprising considering that’s kind of what Starz does.
