While Stephen Colbert is a charming and affable late night host, he doesn’t go for next-day-internet-sensation broke as much as, say, Jimmy Fallon. When he does, though, it’s usually a humdinger. Last night, for instance, Colbert recruited Minooka, Illinois native Nick Offerman for a version of his “Community Calendar” segment in which the pair channel public access television to give a full report of what’s going on in Minooka. While the clip is a bit tongue-in-cheek, with barbs thrown at restaurants called The Shrimp Barn and jokes about little mistakes on the Minooka community website, it’s still a semi-heartwarming glimpse into small town life—especially if you’re looking to attend a sure to be hilarious (and confusing) laser comedy show at the Minooka library.
