Stephen Colbert pays tribute to those not lost in Sweden’s nonexistent terror attack

The good news (tremendously good news, in this case) is that Sweden didn’t actually suffer a terror attack last week, no matter what President Twitter insinuates based off the information Fox News is feeding him. Unfortunately, that revelation—which quickly came to light because so many of us stand prepared to defend democracy, 140 characters at a time—meant that The Late Show couldn’t move forward with this moving tribute to the nonexistent victims of the nonexistent attack.

It turns out misinformation doesn’t spread as quickly as you’d think, as Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Adele, and even Vince Vaughn were supposedly caught unawares by the invitation to send their love and support to Sweden. That, or they already knew Trump was full of crap because they follow the former Swedish prime minster Carl Bildt on Twitter (or read really any of Trump’s tweets).

Even though the star-studded song was a bust, Colbert & Co. did put together an in memoriam reel for all the great Swedish people and things that are still with us, including ABBA and IKEA.
