Stephen Hawking is a guest vocalist on the new Pink Floyd album
Physicist Stephen Hawking is bringing his computerized vocal stylings to Pink Floyd’s new LP. Hawking previously worked with the group on the track “Keep Talkin’,” off 1994’s The Division Bell, and now his vocals will show up again on the forthcoming The Endless River as part of the track “Talkin’ Hawkin’.” The latter won’t be a sequel, per se, but Hawking’s vocals could have been recorded during the same session back in ’94, as the group is revisiting those Division Bell sessions in the wake of the 2008 death of keyboardist Rick Wright, choosing bits and pieces to rework for the new LP. According to David Gilmour, the group has “added new parts, re-recorded others, and generally harnessed studio technology” for Endless River, which he says is the group’s best shot at making a record now, “with Rick gone.”
The Endless River is due out November 10.
