Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks are set to release a new album in early 2014. Wig Out At Jagbags—a jagbag being “a Chicago term” for “a jack-off or a blowhard,” according to the singer—should come out in the spring of next year on Matador, Malkmus’ longtime label. It’s the ex-Pavement frontman’s first record since 2011’s Mirror Traffic. (On a side note, Malkmus has now made more albums with The Jicks than he did with Pavement.)
In an interview on Pitchfork, Malkmus said the record was recorded in a Dutch farmhouse near Amsterdam, not too far from the singer’s current home in Berlin. The record was self-produced alongside longtime Pavement associate and soundman Remko Schouten, and it features guest vocals from Travis frontman Fran Healy, Malkmus’ German neighbor.
