Stephen Merchant, the gangly, low-key counterpoint to Ricky Gervais’ barreling id, has announced his first-ever stand-up comedy tour, titled Stephen Merchant Live: Hello Ladies… Merchant, of course, has been performing stand-up long before he met Gervais, but this is the first time he’s planning on taking his act on the road. Well, on the incredibly short path, anyway: His “tour” includes only one U.S. date, a stop at New York’s Town Hall on Dec. 20 that will be filmed for an upcoming DVD release. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation and Ticketmaster.
