Stephen Root to offer fatherly advice to Zac Efron in Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates
When it comes to bro-ing it out, bro-ing it up, or really cranking the juice and taking things into bro-vertime, few actors in the game are more established than Zac Efron. And as bros tend to beget more bros, it comes as no surprise that his next bro-down, Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates, has already recruited noted bro Adam DeVine and girl-bros Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick to join the fun. So what happens when you add Stephen Root to the mix to play a bro’s dad? We’re about to find out.
The film, written by Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, follows two hard-partying brothers who, as the title suggests, need wedding dates, so they place an ad online in the hopes of finding two girls who can match their diverse set of partying skills. Jake Szymanski will direct, with Chernin Entertainment and Jonathan Levine producing. No word yet on whether Root’s character will be a chill dad-bro that teaches the boys a little something about partying back in the day, or a buzzkill dad who will stop at nothing to harsh their vibes. Or maybe he’ll appear to be the latter at first, only to produce the ultimate bro moment by revealing his true bro identity when it matters the most. The bro permutations are endless.
