Steve Carell doesn’t mind being called a silver fox

Today we’ve dealt with disgraced journalists and comedians, so here’s some lighter news. In his post-Office career, Steve Carell has played a creepy scion, a high-powered agent, and a resentful financier, but while promoting his ongoing stint as a not-so-evil mastermind in the Despicable Me movies, the internet cast him as a silver fox. Last week, Carell, who’s voicing Gru for a third Minion-packed outing, was going about his day with his grays, when some especially appealing photos began making the rounds online. Dressed in a button-down, sweater, and chinos (we think), Carell looked every bit the flinty-haired man of leisure. One appreciative fan couldn’t keep their find to themselves, and Carell’s newfound reputation took off:

As with all such hot, older celeb matters, Entertainment Tonight picked up the story, and even asked Carell how it felt to be the new (almost) Clooney. The Battle Of The Sexes star pretended to balk at the sudden attention, joking that he’s “so sick of people just looking at me for my physical attributes. It’s just genetic. There’s nothing I can do.” But ultimately, Carell is flattered that opting out of picking up a box of Just For Men has turned out so well for him: “I’m bursting with pride. That’s very nice.”
