Steven Spielberg welcomes you to Jurassic Park... again

God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs. Dinosaurs make a lot of money. Man creates dinosaurs several more times. Steven Spielberg is reportedly meeting with writer Mark Protosevich to brainstorm ideas for another Jurassic Park film—talks that are characterized as “purely exploratory,” but which are also purely obvious, considering Universal is all about its franchises right now, the Jurassic series has made the studio nearly $2 billion at the box office (and that’s not even counting the merchandising), and the improvements in both CGI and 3-D technology seem tailor-made for giving those groundbreaking dinosaurs another digital overhaul. Of course, Spielberg himself could actually be the one to wreck the chances of another Jurassic Park, should America reject his dinosaur-laden time-travel series Terra Nova. But as The Hollywood Reporter puts it, “Dinosaurs endangering humans, fighting each other, and smashing things never gets old”—and if they’re already making a movie where CGI dinosaurs smash flying saucers, well, another Jurassic Park seems downright dignified.
